A lot of travelers have Batanes in their bucket list. And why not? It’s an amazing, almost untouched paradise where anyone could be one with nature. Beautiful rolling hills, the fresh sea breeze, friendly Ivatan folk, and an overall sense of peace and serenity--only a few places like this truly exist these days.
And ladies, you’re gonna love one other thing in Batanes: it has the lowest crime rate in the country. Aside from the typhoons that pass by it regularly, Batanes is literally the safest place in the Philippines. Despite its amazing scenery, Batanes isn’t exactly cheap and easily accessible. So why not look for an alternative? Look no further than Malalison Island, which is dubbed boldly as the ‘Batanes of the Visayas.’
Pretty big shoes to fill, but it does have its fair share of amazing sights. There are lots of places where you can soul-search, reflect, and meditate. Its numerous sand bars boast of fine, white sand, surrounded by incredibly pristine waters. We’ll go out and say that the feeling of peace and serenity is much like Batanes itself, and that’s what makes Malalison perfect for the solo traveling lady.
Sagada

Looking for something closer to home, but still safe enough and off the beaten path? Sagada is the place to be. It’s a roughly 12-hour commute from Manila, but it’s all worth it when you see the sights. The customs of the locals alone are a sight to see—i.e. the hanging coffins. You can also go cave hopping, as well as rock climbing especially in Echo Valley.
If all the climbing seems tiring, you can also find activities such as whitewater rafting. You can find this in Chico River. Looking for good food and drinks after your treks? Don’t forget to try these places: Salt and Pepper Diner, Vincent’s Coffee and Grill, and Yoghurt House. And try the popular Patupat rice delicacy, as well as the blueberry muffins and Bugnay wine.
Bohol

This province is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Philippines. And for good reason. Bohol’s beauty is iconic and unequaled, and there are sights here you won’t find anywhere else in the world. This includes the endemic tarsiers and the world-renowned Chocolate Hills. For the solo traveling woman, you would not want to miss seeing these treasures for yourself.
And of course, who would forget the Loboc River cruise? Specifically, eating at one of their floating restaurants. No, you don’t have to have someone special by your arm to enjoy this experience. A good helping of amazing dishes, all while being serenaded with traditional Filipino music. The cruise is something that any first timer in Bohol should never miss.

Coron is perhaps one of the most Instagrammable places in the world. Crystal-clear, blue waters, the picturesque cliffs that look like they’re ripped off some fantasy movie CGI, and the overall feeling of nature enveloping you. Traveling to Coron is akin to a spiritual experience. Not to mention, Coron is one of the safest places in the Philippines, making it even more perfect for the solo female traveler.
